The Graduate ELL Program offers one-to-one academic consultations (tutoring) to graduate students on a limited basis, by appointment. Consulting appointments are for 50-minute sessions.
Our experienced faculty – language specialists with expertise in various disciplines – provide individualized feedback on major writing projects, including research papers, essays, lab reports, theses, dissertations, conference proposals, and articles for publication, among other writing genres. Our faculty consultants also provide individualized feedback on major scholarly communication tasks, such as conference presentations and job talks.
Requirements for a one-to-one academic consultation:
- Meet with a RELI faculty advisor for a brief (15-20 minutes) intake needs assessment conversation before your consulting appointment (only for a first-time visitor)
- Submit your document to your assigned consultant no later than 48 hours in advance (10-page maximum)
- Complete a post-consultation survey about your experience
*All Fall 2020 consulting appointments will be held online.
Note: Our consultations are not an editing service. We do not proofread papers. We focus on higher-order issues like argument, flow of ideas, organization, and work with sources. We will help you to identify major sentence-level and structural issues that impede meaning and will help you self-correct your own work.
